Obituary of John F Freitag, Sr.

John F. Freitag, SR.,(“JACK”), age 90, of Ridgefield, NJ, crossed over into eternal life on Monday, April 17, 2017, with his loving family at his side. Jack was born and raised in Fairview, NJ, and had many fond memories of growing up there. Never one to be idle, every day was a new adventure to young Jack, and because of all those wonderful experiences, he entertained everyone with many colorful stories right up until his passing. Jack proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of The VFW Post 337, American Legion Post 221, and a member of the Ridgefield Senior Citizens. Jack was the general manager at James F. White, Inc., in Fairview, NJ, for over 40 years. In 1953, he married his “bride”, Rose Fredricks of Ridgefield, NJ, and that wonderful marriage gave them 2 children, John Jr. and Roseann. Jack enjoyed people, always sharing stories in his unique style. Even though you may have heard his stories all before, he captivated you with them every time! He also enjoyed baking (famous for his CRUMB CAKE and ZUCCHINI BREAD!), word search puzzles (“gotta keep my mind sharp!”), and JUDGE JUDY! He was just an all around nice guy, and a real gentleman. Jack will be missed greatly, but will always be alive in our hearts! They don’t make them like him anymore! Jack is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Howard, Sr. and Jacobina, his brother Howard Jr. (Bounce), sisters Lorraine (Chickie) and Agnes Ann (Aggie). Jack is survived by his loving “bride” of 63 years, Rose, his dear son John Jr. and his wife Emilia, and devoted daughter Roseann. He was the proud Grandpa to John III (Allyson), Gina, and Christopher. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. We were so very fortunate to have Jack for all this time, and now return him back to the loving arms of God. We celebrate his life, and will keep him alive in the many memories he left for us to cherish. Help keep his spirit alive by performing a daily act of kindness in his honor.
