Elizabeth “Betty” Miller January 5, 1936 – June 27, 2025 Elizabeth "Betty" Miller, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved member of the Curtis Point and broader shore community, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Born and raised in Chatham, NJ, Betty later lived in Nutley for 25 years before settling in Mantoloking, where she became a cherished part of the community. A proud resident of Mantoloking, she was a cornerstone of both her family and her neighborhood. Betty played an instrumental role in the family business, Miller & Son, a fourth-generation company founded in 1913. Alongside her husband Allen, she owned and operated the business from 1965 to 2019, Her sons, George and Edward, continue the family legacy today. She had a deep appreciation for learning and perseverance. As a mother of three, Betty returned to school at night to pursue studies in accounting and bookkeeping at Rutgers University — something she took great pride in. She later used those skills to help manage the family company with diligence and care. In retirement, Betty found joy in exploring the world. Her travels took her to far-reaching places such as South Africa and China, among many others — a testament to her adventurous spirit and curiosity. Betty was also a generous and active presence in her community. She volunteered at the local hospital and animal shelter and was a longtime member of the Ortley Beach Moose Club. A member of the Lavallette Yacht Club since 1965, she served as treasurer, helped organize races as a key part of the Sunday Series Racing Committee, and enjoyed lively games of bridge with her close circle of friends. Above all, Betty’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by: Daughter: Caroline and her husband Alan Robinson Grandchild: Christina and her husband Alex Holliday Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Violet, and Miriam Grandchild: Melissa and her husband Steven Great-grandchild: Bruce Grandchild: Christopher Son: George and his wife Angela Grandchild: Jason and his wife Jade Grandchild: Alexa and her husband Bill Patterson Great-grandchildren: Billy, Wesley, and Juli Son: Edward and his wife Tricia Grandchild: Julia and her husband Mike Grandchild: Jessie Betty was a woman of grace, intelligence, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and the many people whose lives she touched through her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication.
