STEVAN SAKOSAN passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15,2025.

He leaves behind his loyal wife of 56 years Persa, his loving children: Daughter Patricia and Son George, his beloved grandchildren: granddaughter Tatiana and Grandson Halo, his beloved Brothers Viki and his wife Stàna, Trajan “Nuci”, sister Ana and her husband Jonel, predeceased by his father Román, his mother Julijana and step-father Trajan and brother Aurel Savi, Sister-in-law Maria, son-in-law Dale, and many loving Nephews, Nieces, and extended family.

Born on January 2,.1945 in Satu Nou, Steván had a difficult upbringing in Yugoslavia, as it was then known, but he was determined to improve his life by immigrating to the United States in 1967 with just the proverbial “shirt on his back”.

He wasted no time starting his new life. By 1969 he married what was to be the love of his life, Persa, was working two jobs, and going to school to learn English. Just a year later, came the firstborn and Daddy's little girl, Patricia, and less than 3 years later his son George.

But life still wasn't easy living in the Bronx. After a break-in in their apartment, and difficulties collecting rent left him not feeling safe, he decided to move. Not being a stranger to taking a loss and moving with very little, he moved the family to the safer town of North Bergen. He fell in love with North Hudson Park and wanted a home as close to it as possible, to establish happy memories, so that is what he did. After being a Superintendent of a building for some years, he bought his first house and made it home.

He, along with his father Roman, helped other family members to also come to the country and opened up his home to them. These included his wife's mother Elena and his own grandmother Alexandra.

He was a loyal husband, a devout family man, always putting family first, taking them on vacations, leading by example, and teaching important life values. He had a sense of humor, worked hard his whole life providing for every physical need, he believed in God, and he read his Bible daily. He set the example for all following generations, and will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

A memorial service for Stevan will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 1-5 PM at the Joseph Z Konopka Funeral Home.
