June Carrick

April 5, 1932 to October 19, 2025

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at home on Sunday, October 19, at the age of 93.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, June and her husband, Robert, immigrated to the United States in the 1960s. After a brief stay in West New York, New Jersey, they settled in North Bergen, where she made her home for the next 47 years.

A devout Catholic, June’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found strength and comfort in prayer and lived each day with grace, humility, and compassion.

June was an exceptionally talented seamstress who could transform a simple piece of fabric into something extraordinary. Her creativity had no limits. Whether she was crafting clothing, curtains, or home décor, she approached every project with artistry. She could turn her hands to almost anything, and her joy in creating was evident in every detail.

She also loved swimming at The Palisadium, where she swam almost daily, and on day trips to Ocean Grove and Ocean City, Maryland.

Above all, June was the heart and backbone of her family. Her love, faith, and quiet strength shaped the lives of those around her and will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her Scottish brogue and gentle humor remained with her always, a sweet reminder of her roots and the vibrant spirit she carried through life.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (2011); her parents, Alec and Mary Connell; her brothers, Alec and James Connell; and her sister, Carol Brooks.

Surviving is her sister, Irene Guarino of Glasgow, Scotland; her daughters and son-in-law, Dionne and David Shanosky of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and Sharon Carrick Perez of Old Lyme, Connecticut; and her grandchildren, Erin, Logan, Benjamin, Grace, and Preston.

Visitation will be private at the request of the family.
