Obituary of Rev. Michael Vincent Guglielmelli
Rev. Michael V. Guglielmelli, of Cliffside Park, NJ, formally of Hoboken,,NJ entered into eternal life on June 4, 2017.
He was born on October 3, 1935 in Hoboken. He lived in Hoboken for the majority of his life before moving to Cliffside upon retiring, to live with his sisters Dolores and Antoinette.
He was a graduate of Demarest High School in 1953, Rutgers University with a degree in Pharmacy in 1958. Then he was drafted to the Army. He returned to Hoboken after his service. In 1963, he entered the college of seminary . Ordained into the Franciscan order May 30, 1970.
He was an avid gardener and botanist.
Father Michael was a Roman Catholic Priest for the Dioceses of Newark. St. Francis Church, ‘the Little Church with the Big Heart’ was his home. He loved all of his parishioners and his community of Hoboken. That was his home. He did more masses as a retired priest than he did as a regular priest. He enjoyed Sunday dinners and celebrating Holidays with his family. He was joking and loved to tease his family. He adored his sisters, Dolores and Shirley.
When remembering the essence of Father Michael , these are his words “ You had no intention of saying what you said and yet someone heard and it affected their lives. It’s almost as if God is answering their thoughts and prayers through you!”
Father Michael was predeceased by his parents Incoronata and Michele, brother Andrew, sister-in-law Marie Guglielmelli, brother-in-law Peter Gallina
He is survived by his nephews and nieces; Michael Guglielmelli and his wife Anna, Antonia Campbell and her husband Eddie, Helen Gallina and her significant other Joseph, Michael Gallina and his wife Marie, and Paul Gallina and his wife Michelle. He is also survived by his grand-nieces and grand-nephews Kim Fucci and her husband JonPaul, Christopher Campbell and his fiancé Lesley, Michael Campbell and his wife Megan, Deanna DeLuca, Daniel DeLuca, Paul Gallina, Angela Gallina, Peter Gallina, and Alexa Gallina. In addition he is remembered by his great grandnieces Emily and Nicole as well as his many loved godchildren.
Visitation will be at St. Francis Church, 308 Jefferson Street Hoboken, NJ on Wednesday from 1-9 pm with a Vigil Mass at 7PM . Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 15th at 11am with the burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. We ask to please use public transportation and travel together as parking is limited and church capacity is extremely limited.
