Obituary of Victor K Sabbagh
Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
VICTOR K. SABBAGH, age 95, beloved husband, father, educator, and proud WWII veteran, peacefully departed from our mortal realm on Jan. 1st, 2021. A member of the Greatest Generation, he gained a streetwise sensibility being raised during the Great Depression with practical grace and steadfast foresight of a brighter future. First sergeant in the U.S. Army, he met his first wife Simone in the Alsace region of France. Returning home, he built a career from the ground up, working for the fledgling U.S. Navy ship stores office (NAVRESSO) starting as a Clerk-Typist and culminating as Treasurer - the highest possible civilian position in senior management – in a 40 year career (the first in the organization). A special letter of appreciation described his broad and numerous contributions to this “Command” springing from his business talents with words: creativity, sound judgement, diligence, negotiating skills, and sincere concern for the well-being of co-workers. This was punctuated by a perfect attendance record for more than 39.5 years. Throughout this time, he continued his education, while raising a family of three, earning his B.A. and M.B.A. from New York University. He also had a strong desire to educate others teaching economics and risk management at the College of Insurance. As a widower, he married Lia Lawford in 1980, and enjoyed international travel while completing his career. He loved music, and desired to enjoy it with friends and family. He is survived by wife Lia, children Irene, Raymond (and wife Patricia), Steven (and wife Mary), 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
