Where to start? My uncle Mitch with a tough exterior, good heart, adventurous goofy soul. I will never forget my visit to NJ with you and aunt Yoko so I could visit NY for the summer of 05'. I can remember going to Broadway Dance Center famous for several pop stars and I decided to take a class the only one available was belly dancing. Uncle Mich looked at me and said "ahh why not?" So here I am in this class of adults learning the moves except I couldn't get my hip to drop correctly when my uncle jumps up it says "no do it like this" as he starts dancing! I honestly didn't know whether to be embarrassed or laugh! He took me to all kinds of places since he loved to explore and tell me about everything. You and aunt Yoko were so kind and the biggest love birds. Thank you for introducing her into our lives she is a true Ring family member teaching her the crazy ways of the Ring family. It was a summer to never forget! ❤ Thank you for your advice, wild sense of adventure, service and teaching me that everyone is unique in their own way and that's okay. As I get older I see how I acquired some of your unique traits and tough exterior. Rest easy uncle you have left your mark on the world and it was a beautiful one!
Love, your niece Jessica and family.

Mitch was my brother in law. He was the nut of the family. Always laughing, always ready to go somewhere. The memory for me was our family camping trip. Yokos parents were visiting and we went to the mountains of NC. We all had a cabin. We slid down a waterfall (parents too!). Roasted marshmallows. And the highlight of the trip was singing around the campfire. Parents did not know American songs - BUT they did know songs from TV. We sang themes songs from The Beverly Hillbilllys, The Flintstones and other shows. They were so excited they knew the songs. That was so much fun. Mitch loved being with his family. I think there were 16 of us - Mitch was happy always.

Uncle Mitch was always known as “my goofy uncle Mitch”. He was in the Navy while I was growing up but when he came to visit, he would always have great stories to tell.
I remember one visit when he was staying at my Grandma Lucy’s house. For lunch he made this huge plate of crackers with bologna and cheese. I complained because I wanted a sandwich and he said “in the Navy, you eat what you get. Now eat those crackers.” Haha
He married Yoko and that seemed to soften him up quite a bit. We always enjoyed their visits from Japan.
Uncle Mitch was a pretty generous person. When I was in college, and needed a car, Mitch gave me the car that he abs Yoko had because they didn’t need it anymore. They were going back to Japan and he told me to “take care of it for them”. I was so grateful. I took great care of that car for them but when they returned, he offered it to me as a gift.
I thought that was very kind of him.
He will be missed greatly by his family and especially his loving wife, Yoko.
With love,
Andrea

Well I was raised in the same home as Mitch and he was like a brother. Even though their was ten years between us I have a lot of memory's at a early age before he went into service when I was Eight One of my earliest memory's was at the house off of his grand fathers farm in Winston Salem. Jeff my brother John Mitch and myself was sitting on a bed one summer night listing to the crickets and everything else outside the house. Window open no screen and just nothing but dark black outside john and Mitch telling us about Snipes. Was telling us we really had to look hard to see them. So as myself being about six and brother five was getting close and closer to window to see these snipes as John coached us to do. Mitch slipped outside under the window and all 'of sudden jumped up and scared us to death. They laughed and laughed .But they didn't get last laugh because grand father came running to see what the screaming was about and got onto them. Next memory was 1968 when march winds came around and we got kits while John and Mitch where at school. I picked standard kit out a picture of the Apollo one on it. Jeff picked out a box kit. We tried for hours it seemed to get them to fly. With no success we where very upset. Their mother told us that when Mitch and John came maybe they could get them to fly. So when they came in from school they did get mine to fly but not Jeff's. .Mostly after that my memories are Vacations Great Smokey mountains, White Lake water Skiing, beach, Six flags over Georgia, and I could go on and on Right out of high school he went into service and he was so proud when got out of boot camp and having enough money to buy a new ford truck. And then after that he Traveled the world where he meet his Wife Yoko. He will deeply be missed.

I haven’t seen Mitch in a couple of years my last memory was at Robert’s wedding. We all had such a beautiful time together. I have shared Christmas with Mitch and other family occasions. I always thought how much he loved Yoko and how he seemed so very proud of her. I am truly sorry for your loss Yoko. I included a pic of my last memory.

Uncle Mitch was a great guy and a one of a kind. He always made me laugh because while everyone else was putting up Christmas trees Uncle Mitch was putting up his tiki bar. Most of my life Uncle Mitch had lived far away from me until he moved to New Jersey and then he was only half a days drive from us. I remember looking forward to his visits when I was a kid because he would drive all the way from Alaska to my grandmother’s house in North Carolina and I couldn’t wait to hear about what he had been up to since the last time we had seen him. As I grew older he and Yoko both would come to visit (usually on their way to some trip they had planned in Florida). I remember how he would try to lighten the mood of the group whenever someone would get too serious. He would usually try to tell some funny joke and end up cracking himself up instead of the rest of us. Our family get togethers and beach trips will never be the same without him. You will be missed Uncle Mitch.
