Orlando Penate, 91, passed away on August 4th, 2024 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Stafford Township NJ.

Orlando was born in 1933 in Havana Cuba. He came to the United States at the young age of 21 and started his own barber shop in New York City. Shortly after he came to the US he brought his wife Evangelina Penate to join him in 1955. Together they raised two daughters. After raising their children they helped raise their two grandchildren Nicholas and Jessica.

Anyone who knew Orlando knew he loved his Cuban food, music and cigars.

He also enjoyed a glass of scotch each night before dinner.

Orlando lived a long happy and fruitful life. He was a hard worker who provided for his family and made sure they wanted for nothing. He continued to help provide and love his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Although we feel the pain of his passing, we take comfort that he is reunited with his mother, father, sisters and his wife Evangelina, who he missed so much these past 7 years. Orlando’s survivors are his great granddaughters Juliette Genovese and Ariella Fernandez, his Daughter Arlene Fernandez, son in law Micheal D’Angelis, and grandchildren Nicholas Fernandez, Marissa Fernandez, Jessica Genovese and Justin Genovese.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12, from 10:00am-1:00pm at Joseph Z Konopka Funeral Home 9046 Palisade Ave. North Bergen N.J, 07047. Burial to follow at Flower Hill Mausoleum.
